Description
Geostationary meteorological satellite launched in 2006. Formally transferred from NOAA to the USSF in 2020 as EWS-G1 for Indian Ocean monitoring. Retired in October 2023 following an imager failure. Currently drifting westward in a graveyard orbit; a partial passivation failure leaves its un-passivated power rails active, continuously leaking a narrow-band engineering telemetry carrier.
