Description The UWE-4 satellite is based on the architecture introduced by UNISEC Europe which has been demonstrated first on UWE-3. It makes use of a backplane which interconnects all subsystems with a standardized interface and also interfaces the CubeSat’s panels. This architecture supports rapid development, test, and integration of new subsystems. It provides several redundant communication busses (I2C, UART, and MLVDS) and power busses, dedicated synchronization signals, and complete debug access to each subsystem. The subsystem stack as shown in Figure 2 consists of the OBC, AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control System), the PPU, the EPS ( Electrical Power Subsystem), COM (UHF Communication System), and the FAB (Front Access Board). ). Beyond Europe, it is also applied in the Japanese BIRDS-1 and -2 satellites and has been used in industry by Airbus DS.
