Description GOES (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) is a set of Geostationary satellites that photograph the Earth in more than 16 different channels or "bands" using the ABI (advanced baseline imager) device. The satellite is also capable in capturing the sun/solar state in 5 different bands using the SUVI (Solar Ultraviolet Imager) device. It is also capable of measuring and detecting heavy ions, protons, and magnetospheric particles using the SEISS instruments on board, and using the advanced Magnometers.
